this is what i use on pc, and it works perfect. for pc i also recommend super mario bros x. probably the best 2d mario game hands down, and the funny part is it wasn't made by nintendo. with shit loads of content and a solid engine. made by the same guy who made terraria.

smbx v1.3 is on the web. dev got handed a cease and desist order form nintendo before he could put out 1.4. really a shame as that was the version with online multiplayer. still a great game for local play though. ive beaten it many times, and many different custom made episodes (an episode is like a custom built campaign with 8 worlds and etc.).

looks like this^^^ is the latest and greatest build from the community. SMBX v1.3.0.1

these 3 are great episodes made by the best custom level maker. i warn you though, these can get a bit hard, only for pros and die hards of the mario games. the main episode that it comes with stock is awesome stuff too though, and a bit ezer.

also, you're missing out not having the shield. this thing is a beast for emulation. also has lots of the hq graphics plugins and etc too. and if you're looking to pay 20 or more for a usb controller, id just go with the 8bitdo, as it's wired and wireless bluetooth. dpad and buttons on it are all smooth as fuck. feels just like playing on an old nes controller, except with snes buttons. id either use that or just buy a real snes controller off ebay in good condition, and get the snes to usb adapter. which i have all of the above. i also have n64 / nes / sega / gc adapters too. but im heavy into the old school console tech.

Thanks, guys for posting this. I would like to get my young nephews and niece, when I go see them in Colorado this year a nice little portable gamming setup that each can use while traveling. I'm listening to all suggestions before I make my choice on what to get. Keep'em coming!
