[Info] Tribes Live

Post by DaJ4ck3L »

I forgot what thread that info was in on tribes live, but any luck finding it perr? Something like that would be super useful to get players clientside files from the server. I would love to play around with it, and see what we could do.

Nah, I can't find it... But like I said, even if I did find it, I doubt it would still work.

There were no options to choose a server, or anything like that... It just scanned the server and your tribes directory and downloaded the missing files.

Spoke with krogoth a few minutes ago about this. Apparently Nox has a copy. Might want to get with him if you're interested.

Spawn Devil made it originally and had a site for it, which is obviously no longer working, tribeslive.com

There's some info on the annihilation forum:

Nox does have a copy, but it won't do any good, the servers it used are down, and we don't have the source for it, though there's no telling if it would work on Win 7/8. Your best bet would be to start from scratch.

run.dll and an alternative plugin for 1.4 would probably be ideal.

Thanks for the info krog. And suck it perr, just wanted to see it first hand, and gather info on it. You peaked my interest when you brought it up. Think my interest is satisfied now.

Direct link to said files probably the easiest method. An all in one pack at an easy url. Would be nice if we owned like a "www.tribesmappack.net" url or something.

Good to see you around krog. :D

Can the client handle clicking on links and opening the browser? Something like the MOTD window or whatever had links in the past, though I don't recall being able to click on them.

Yes... There is a function the server can call on the client that will open a url in your default browser, but it was exploited with meatspin, by bob, and then everyone patched their clients, overwriting the function so it cannot be used anymore.

It's disabled by default in 1.40 clients.
