Anti-happy mod server side development?

I don't know if we have anyone who currently plays tribes that could possibly do this, but I found the source code for HM2, and I thought maybe its possible to use that source code to reverse engineer HM2, and develop an anti-cheat server sided code. My theory is, and I need your guys thoughts on this, but if we could find some memory calls, or file hooks in the code, and figure out a way for the server to detect it, we could make a way to automatically ban users that the server detects are using HM, or any of its variants. I don't know a lot about anti-cheat coding, or even general video game coding, so I figured I'd see what you guys think

here is the link for the source code

Nope. Someone posted the source for Tribes on Tribalwar.com, though.

but the main question is, if we were able to aquire the source, would it be possible to reverse engineer it to protect against happy modding?

How hard could it be? Oh wait Plasmatic and Nofix couldn't do it properly. Probably pretty hard.

Umm... Neither of them really ever tried. I mean, Plasmatic wrote happy breaker, which spans flags and bots under the terrain to confuse happy modders, but it's not very effective, and there's a better script out there...

But Nofix definitely did the exact opposite. He's the one who wrote most of the cheats...

Andrew is the one who wrote last hope and included it in hudbot, which he also wrote.

I know happy mod has been around for a long long time, thats why I thought that if we could get the source code, there has to be someone on here who knows enough programming to toy with it and try to reverse engineer it. i think what would be best, is to find some code in HM, that we could use like an HM signature, and when the protection script detects the signature, it would compare it to the HM source, and if the results are the same, the client would automatically be permanent-banned. it would sort of work like how antiviruses work. you have a virus signature, and if your protection detects code known to be used in a virus, an action is triggered. I don't know how much, if any, lag this could cause, but its just an idea

Top Google search auto complete for "Tribes" is "1.41 bypass".
