Re: TribesHDv3
I remember someone saying that solid skins were cheats, years ago, after posting a screenshot from my own config.
I'll admit to using solid skins for mines many years ago, as I got sick of accidentally stepping on them anywhere and everywhere, but that's been a lot less of a problem ever since the removal of mine launcher, and my current config does not have any solid skins.
It definitely gives you a distinct advantage, unless the solid skin blends in with the background. I tried a config with solid team skins, and found myself sitting out missions with matching sky colors. Couldn't see the enemy anywhere.

Re: TribesHDv3
These colors seem to work well for me. I rename the black skin to something random usually so I don't run into your issue.
I don't know about Anni, but most Base players use solid skins. I could stripe them or give them contrasting color patterns to be a so called 'true skin,' that will probably give me the same advantage.

I don't see a problem with different mine skins as long as it doesn't differentiate between friendly and enemy mines.perrinoia wrote:I remember someone saying that solid skins were cheats, years ago, after posting a screenshot from my own config.

Re: TribesHDv3
Mines don't have team skins.
They are also not visible to radar, which means no health bar or anything to indicate teams.
Mines launched from a mine launcher didn't even get assigned to teams, so you'd accidentally trip ones launched by teammates, too.
This was why I made them all bright red.
No mine launchers anymore... no more need for solid skins.
