I think we're ready add new maps. I mean like new client-side maps.
I uploaded the OC3 map pack up here and stripped out the custom skies that usually come with it.
A lot of people already have this map pack. and most of the community is connected now. I think it would be a good idea to add these and make newer maps with the supplied terrains

Re: OpenCall 3 Annihilation?
The problem with this....those who don't have them, don't know what they look like. Those who might have them, won't know, due to either not labeling them correctly, know what they look like, or named. Maybe post a pic named via the map, for references.
Re: OpenCall 3 Annihilation?
Here's my thought process. The server instructs every player to upgrade to 1.41, and every 1.41 config comes with the Open Call 3 map pack, as well as DOX's CTF map pack... So the only people who will be dropped when these maps are played, are the ones who haven't followed instructions and upgraded their version of Tribes, yet.
However, I do think that the server info should contain a link to a compatible config.
Also, if they haven't upgraded to 1.41, there's a strong chance that they also haven't protected themselves from the HTMLOpen exploit, so perhaps the client side file kick message should be modified to open the dropped player's browser right to a webpage where they can download the required files.

Re: OpenCall 3 Annihilation?
So your telling me you want to force this on everyone, including new players? Don't like this. We already have issue's with keeping enough players in game. I for one still have a laptop that uses Vista in which I have to use 1.30 to play, so I keep 1.30 on all my gamming systems. I have 1.40 and 1.41 on my other systems, tried them, but don't like the feel or look when I've been playing with the looks of Tribes from 1997. So I've decided to stick to it. You start forcing 1.41 on others, the server will be barren with no donation support.
Re: OpenCall 3 Annihilation?
1.30 comes with these maps, too. So...
Pretty much every config since 1.11 came with these maps.
We already force players to upgrade to at least 1.11 by hosting open call and balanced maps.
If we had none of those, then 1.0-1.8 clients would be able to play without dropping when the map changes to one of those.

Re: OpenCall 3 Annihilation?
See...like I said in my earlier post....what if you don't know you already have these, how do you vote? What if you deleted these without knowing what they were? And if we already have these, then why this post to re-download them, just to modify them to re-download them again? Shouldn't you just modify them for the new download?
Re: OpenCall 3 Annihilation?
Huh? Who's talking about modifying the maps?
We're talking about uploading them to the server.
We're theorizing that very few players would be negatively effected by the new maps, and this pole is supposed to ascertain more accurate numbers.
We could add an "I don't know" option, but that would not be helpful.
Instead, I suggest those who don't know look it up.
